To design a usable and functional
website, first, we need to focus on what we offer and what are the
characteristics of our business that we want to promote via the Internet.
Based on our experience as Best
Web Development Firm, we can certainly tell you that to start with the
creation of a site or its makeover; it is good to have obvious ideas about what
you want to put on the site: from products to locations, from personal, to the
blog. Be careful not to lose pieces!
The important thing is to have
immediately clear all the contents to work on: only at this point can you move
on to the setup phase.
Menu
Once we have collected all the
elements, we can make a selection of those we want to keep and those that do
not interest us in defining the navigation menu; as we have been able to say in
many other articles that we wrote, the menu must be:
Obviously: the user must know (or
at least imagine) what he will find on each page indicated by the menu items.
The page in which we insert our description must be called who we are.
Otherwise, we can use terms such as company, our company, the studio, or
directly use the company name.
Brief: we must never have more
than seven menu items. If we need other items, we use the drop-down menus
(i.e., we maintain a maximum of 7 main entries and group below these other
themes). In any case, keep the drop-down menus short; and absolutely avoid the
curtains that open other curtains or users will risk getting lost, especially
from mobile!
Ordered: the first menu item
refers to the home, the second to who we are and so on. The last menu item must
always be contacts (or contact us).
A single menu at the top: today's
sites are responsive, it is preferable to opt for a single horizontal menu at
the top of the page. Any other secondary menus, which are placed to the right
or left of the text, disappear in the mobile view: if we want to use them, we
insert links to non-fundamental themes (i.e., "lost" in the views
from smartphone or tablet).
Structuring of the pages
When PHP
development services have defined the structure of the menu, we will be
ready to take care of defining the layout of the individual pages of the
website. Often, the customers of our Web Designing Agency have unclear
ideas, and we propose the structural layout of the individual sections,
supporting it in this delicate phase and choosing solutions with an eye on SEO
(Search Engine Optimization) Service and usability.
Texts and photos
The actual contents of the site
are often a real sore point for the customer. If you are thinking of creating a
website, know that writing texts is not as obvious as it seems and requires
time and energy! This aspect is taken extremely lightly and often involves very
long stand-by times during the creation of websites.
The commercial problem
As you can see from this article,
the design phase is perhaps the most important part of building a website; it
requires specific skills and knowledge of the sector. For this reason, the
design is a professional service in all respects and in theory should be sold
as a service in its own right. We say "in theory" because it is
difficult to make the customer understand the value and importance of a good
design: it is already difficult to convey the message that a good percentage of
the estimate consists of the study of how to do the site (rather than doing the
site), imagine offering it as a stand-alone service.
